• Aerodynamic study: definition of our NACA airfoil, calculation of the Reynolds number and Mach at the limit conditions of speed and altitude, here based on JAR 21 regulations, and the calculation of the lift and drag coefficients of our profile using NASA reports based on wind tunnel results of our airfoil of interest as well as the CFD application FoilSim II also developed by NASA. Determination of the 3D pressure distribution function and load on our empennage at the limit conditions using Matlab.
• Presentation of the theoretical finite element method and some practical examples.
• Drawing on CatiaV5 our empennage and the main spar of our wing. Then we have justified that our structure does not exceed the elastic limit at the limit conditions of speed and altitude using Abaqus simulations and taking as input our 3D pressure distribution function found earlier on Matlab.
